Can we Pick up Customers on Dauphin Island?
One of the questions we get asked frequently is:
“Can you pick us up on Dauphin Island?”
The short answer is no—all of our trips begin and end at Fort Morgan Marina.
We know that isn’t the answer some folks are hoping for, but we’ve found the ferry makes it an easy trip. We work with the ferry schedule, and before you know it you’re at the marina and headed offshore.
The Good News
Fishing with us from Dauphin Island is actually pretty easy.
Most of our Dauphin Island guests simply take the Dauphin Island to Fort Morgan Ferry over to Fort Morgan on the morning of their trip. Since the first ferry doesn’t leave until around 8:00 a.m., we’re happy to adjust our departure time. For most groups, we’ll plan to leave the dock around 8:45 or 9:00 a.m., depending on the ferry schedule that day.
Once you arrive at Fort Morgan, you’re almost here. The ferry landing is only a short drive from Fort Morgan Marina, so it’s an easy trip from the boat to the dock.
The Ferry Is Part of the Fun
One thing we’ve heard from guests over the years is that the ferry ride ends up being part of the experience.
Instead of spending the morning sitting in traffic, you’re already out on the water. It’s a relaxing ride across Mobile Bay, and you’ll often spot dolphins, pelicans, shrimp boats, and plenty of other coastal scenery along the way.
For a lot of families, it feels like the vacation starts as soon as they board the ferry. By the time you pull into Fort Morgan, you’re only a few minutes away from our boat and ready to head offshore.
We Build the Day Around Your Trip
When we have a group coming from Dauphin Island, we usually reserve the entire day for them.
That gives everyone enough time to:
- Catch the morning ferry
- Enjoy a full day of fishing
- Make the return ferry that afternoon or evening
During the busy summer season, that generally works best on our longer trips. During the fall, winter, and spring, we’re even more flexible with scheduling.
Why Make the Ferry Ride?
For many groups, it’s worth it.
KOKA Charters is one of the few offshore fishing boats in the area that can legally take up to 23 passengers on a single private trip.
That makes us a great option for:
- Company outings
- Family reunions
- Church groups
- Bachelor parties
- Sports teams
- Large groups of friends vacationing together
Instead of splitting your group between several smaller boats, everyone gets to fish together on one trip.
You’ll also enjoy plenty of room to spread out, an air-conditioned cabin, private restroom, shaded seating, and a large back deck that’s built for groups.
