4 Hour Trolling Trip

The 4-hour nearshore trip is a relaxed, fun outing designed for cruising, sightseeing, and trolling only. This trip is all about enjoying time on the water with the chance to catch fish along the way.

Departure Time

  • Afternoon only

  • Departure time: around 2:00 p.m.

  • Departure time may vary based on time of year

  • During the offseason, earlier departure times may be available upon request

What to Expect

We’ll stay nearshore and keep lines in the water while cruising the Gulf. Several trolling lines are out at once, and when a fish hits, one person reels it in.

Common trolling catches include:

  • Spanish mackerel

  • King mackerel

  • Jack crevalle

Trolling can be hit or miss — some days are better than others — but the focus of this trip is fun, scenery, and time on the water, with fishing as a bonus.

Why Choose the 4-Hour Nearshore / Trolling Trip

  • A true Gulf experience — we head out into open water, not just the bay, with big views, fresh air, and plenty to see

  • Relaxed, easygoing, and fun — this trip is about enjoying time on the water, not grinding it out fishing

  • Perfect for families and friends — kids get to reel in the fish while the adults sit back and enjoy the ride

  • Lines in while you hang out — trolling keeps several rods in the water without everyone having to fish at once

  • Plenty of scenery and wildlife — dolphins, birds, oil rigs, ships, and wide-open Gulf views

  • Afternoon departures mean Fort Morgan sunsets, which are some of the best on the coast

  • Easy onboard cooking — trolling makes it simple to grill hot dogs, burgers, or snacks while underway

  • A great “boat day” trip — perfect for cruising, sightseeing, tanning, music, and being on the water

  • Excellent bonding for groups and traveling sports teams

A Few Things People Love About This Trip

  • Kids love helping reel fish in (no experience needed)

  • Parents love that they don’t have to do anything but relax

  • Groups love the space, comfort, and laid-back pace

  • Everyone loves finishing the trip at Tacky Jack’s II — restaurant upstairs, bar downstairs, and plenty going on after you get back

Good to Know

This is a trolling-only trip focused on fun, scenery, and time on the Gulf. While we do have chances to catch fish — including Spanish mackerel, king mackerel, and jack crevalle — this is not a hard core fishing trip and we do not bottom fish or target red snapper.

Bottom Line

If you want to get out on the Gulf, enjoy the ride, take in the scenery, and keep lines in the water without any pressure, the 4-hour nearshore trip is hard to beat.
